National Commander S. John Sisler was elected National Commander in August of 2003 at the Annual National Convention held in Orlando, Florida. A life member of Illinois Post 169 (North Pekin), John joined AMVETS in 1968. The U.S. Army veteran, who is also a director on the Department of Illinois Service Foundation, previously held positions as national first vice commander and national second vice commander, national District IV commander, department commander and state service foundation president. He is a two-time state division commander and a four-term post commander.
